ABOUT
BREEZE
An initiative by the Embassy of Brazil in London held in partnership with ABACT and Latitude - Platform for Brazilian Art Galleries Abroad, BREEZE aims to promote contemporary Brazilian art in international markets.
Every year, an open call will select an exhibition proposed by one of Brazil's leading galleries to exhibit in the heart of London, in the midst of the UK’s hottest period of the year for the art market.
For up to six weeks, including the four days of Frieze London, the chosen gallery will receive support towards production and a 250-square-metre gallery space at the Embassy of Brazil's main cultural space: Sala Brasil, a listed venue just a stone’s throw from Trafalgar Square and The National Gallery.
Applications are open for ABACT-member galleries, who are free to submit projects on their own, or in association with practitioners (curators, producers, artists, artist collectives) and organisations of any kind (museums, companies, NGOs, press outlets, universities) - we highly value collaboration!
Eligible applicants can submit proposals for exhibitions in any format: there are no restrictions on theme, curatorial framework, solo or group shows, number of works or formats/medium... The only rule is presenting Brazilian contemporary art.
An international jury carefully examines the projects and elects a winning proposal to be implemented in the Autumn. For examples of the exciting network and experience that participating entails, check out our News page for information about our curatorial committee, the latest winning projects, including Osvaldo Carvalho's solo exhibition False Symmetry, presented by Janaína Torres Galeria on our first edition in 2023.
In addition to the open call for the exhibition, the 2024 edition of BREEZE features new modalities. Visit our news page or subscribe to our newsletter for hot updates. For details on how to participate, click here.
